So, mum is having limb weakness which is deteriorating pretty rapidly. She's had tests, more tests, doctors scratching their heads, more tests. I looked over all her test results this morning. In five months, not a SINGLE urine test to check for a UTI. She's 85.

When I was a teenager, a close friend's elderly father was incredibly unwell. He was delirious, refusing food, and wetting himself. I suggested testing his blood glucose. It was in the high teens. None of his doctors had thought to do this.

Doctors can be incredibly short sighted about elder patients and miss things that would be obvious in younger ones.
