If your point is that money = speech I do disagree. We should have strict limits on political spending and the Citizens United ruling was a disaster for American democracy. Pragmatically, I also separately think Third Way's ideas are both bad and unpopular.

To be extra clear, I don't like Third Way because their ideas are bad, not per se because they're funded by Wall Street and the wealthy. If Bill Gates wants to spend $1B promoting candidates who will prioritize e.g. global health investments I'd be very happy!

In that hypothetical, they have the constitutional right to advocate for their concerns and the rest of us have the right (and duty) to suspect their advocacy when we recognize who it's coming from. Like AIPAC, if you advocate unpopular positions long enough you become politically toxic yourself.

I would be open to any data you might have on who (and how many people) fund/participate in Third Way vs. the DSA.
