I know they're just trying to be friendly, so I don't necessarily mind, but it makes me wonder if I give off a vibe like I feel guilty for doing something slightly unusual in public? Or if the baseline assumption is that someone doing anything slightly unusual must want reassurance about it

Maybe I should just be saying, "Hi, this is Brooks!" The fact that I explain it probably makes people assume I'm uncomfortable about it, when what I'm trying to do is assure people that it's okay to ask questions
