This setting has prevented me from forgetting. It’s so good.

So I've noticed it only prevents you from posting on the website, not on mobile. Is that a known bug?

I wish this would also warn me when I am, reblogging something which lacks alt text. I get not being able to add any to another person's post. But, maybe a 'this image has no alt text, would you like to Quote Post instead'.

Note that if you use the site in two different places (pc browser and phone app for instance) you need to set this separately for both

I wish they would default new accounts to having this turned on. Sure, there would be people who would go out of their way to turn it off, or enter unhelpful alt text, but I think there would also be people whose reaction is “oh yes I keep meaning to do this!” - Just generally increase awareness.

Look no further than the auto-generated alt-text we have now to know that LLMs are terrible at this, chiefly because they can't understand things like context.
