“In the UK in 2026, the cheapest method of having a reliable and cheap to operate motor vehicle is electric. Not plug in hybrid, not petrol, not diesel. Electric, end of all arguments.”

It’s hard when your university name ceases to exist and younger generations have never heard of it, despite it having been *the* place for technology subjects, and you have to watch your old campus become empty and run down and change use. I am an alumni of the University of Manchester now.

After UMIST & University of Manchester finally decided to merge the old UMIST campus has gradually stopped being used & last I heard it seems will become some kind of business park. Main building future still unknown though 😞

I had lectures in one subject in one year in there, learning circuit diagrams (hmm, maybe also databases was there), but otherwise lectures were in the Renold or MSS buildings. Exams & graduation & library were also in there.

I didn’t spend much time in the building when I was a student (studying degree in Computation - that’s Computer Science). I have regretted for a long time that I didn’t explore when I had that chance. It’s an amazing building with an observatory in roof and many other unexpected things.

(The break was for people to get food. This was at the middle pool of Victoria Baths in Manchester where there was a ceilidh as part of wedding celebrations. Yes, I went up to the band later when they were packing up and they said they loved it when people noticed 😊)

There are 3 pools at Victoria Baths, which are a reminder of how women were treated and considered the lowest of the low in society. The 1st class men’s pool water was moved to the 2nd class men’s pool after 3 days of their dirt, then from there to women’s pool after another 3 days. No chlorine.

It’s hard to believe that when they came to refurbish this corridor of glass set in metal that they first had to remove the layer of tarmac someone from the council had decided was a good idea to put on top of it! 😳

I never buy white clothes and have warned my kids against ever doing so - they never stay white!

Our family also, so that’s another 4.

Yep, saw this earlier and ’saved’ to look at another time.

Agreed! We used to have the video cassettes!
