Suddenly intense scrutiny on the costs and line items and the deal are SUPER important. 🙄 I think it’s pretty clear that these folks will take every opportunity to attack the legitimacy of Portland Street Response.

There is LITERALLY NO BUDGET IMPACT. It is just a move from one location another because the lease expired and comes from an existing budget at the same cost. Crazy making!

Comments like it’s too expensive right now and it’s just a nice to have, not a need are frying me.

Where does the state money go if the city doesn’t pony up by December? Like do the state funds literally evaporate at midnight or are they just creating an arbitrary sense of urgency? What if the city comes through next year instead? The state will say no, it’s too late? Hard to believe.

It is also disheartening to learn about the way the community was told repeatedly, up until Dec 2025, that the rink was going to be preserved within the plan.

I know the quasi-judicial authority given to council is highly prescriptive. But it’s hard to imagine denying this appeal without further investigation into whether it can be saved.
