As a lifetime Blazers fan, I remain confused by the approach to *gestures* all of this. Why wouldn't we want public tax dollars invested in the stadium to bring the most public ROI possible? Why would we expect a public body to start by negotiating against itself? Idk, idgi.
We had a chance today to show PDX that we’re fighting for their best interest in this deal and we failed. We failed every future city who will someday have to reckon with the next ownership group who will threaten, without evidence, to wreck their economy unless they pony up at least as much as us

According to the current lease, whatever today’s NBA standard requires, Tom Dundon is contractually bound to pay for it himself. The “first-class” upgrades the public is being asked to fund for ~$600M are, by the contract’s own words, his obligation.
