Running for Portland City Council in District 4. Mom of 5. Renter. Transit rider. 10yrs delivering results in city government. evenstarforportland.com

Watching everyone’s goodbye videos to the Lloyd Center makes me want to cry. It’s the end of an era! And I never got to walk the mall with the Food Court 5000 group. Sigh 😭😭😭

So has anyone answered @multcomoyer.bsky.social’s question actually? Is it legal?

Kevin Foster

Multnomah County Chair Vega Pederson hired Chris Oxley to lead their negotiations on the Moda Center renovation. Oxley formerly worked for the Blazers and currently serves as Board President at Sport Oregon, a nonprofit that has been lobbying for public funding of the Moda Center renovation.

Message to the mods: Have some basic pride in Portland, please. Dundon is never gonna pick you. #breakthedeadlock #evenstarforportland

Portland Jobs with Justice

Yep, Council moderates wouldn't even back Kanal 4, the final amendment which was to simply say that the negotiating team should seek a return on investment for Portlanders in the Moda deal. Green: "Portlanders are watching, and they are pretty upset at the way we steward their funds in this City."🔥

It’s actually embarrassing af. It’s clear to me that the moderates don’t believe in our worth. They’ve embraced the doom loop narrative so hard they are willing to sell us out for pennies on the dollar and let Dundon treat us like a subprime city.

Kaliko Castille

A failure of their fiduciary responsibility. Scarcity mindset coupled with naive belief corporate social responsibility will be prioritized over pure capitalist greed. It's always funny DSA types get pegged as not understanding business when it's the Mod Squad that would lose at Monopoly.

Listening to testimony about Moda Center and heard that Portland has punched above its weight in the world of sports and built an unexpected empire. And that’s EXACTLY the attitude councilors need to bring to this negotiation now. WE ARE PORTLAND and no one gets to push us around. Keep punching!

The City’s position is pretty clear here: let’s take both threats off the table. The City will agree not to sue but only if the Blazers agree not to move. Seems like a logical and equal exchange but they won’t yet agree. So who is actually chilling negotiations here?

NEW: Internal emails obtained by KATU show Portland Trail Blazers leaders debated whether to respond to the City of Portland's questions on key pieces of a proposed Moda Center deal, with one executive saying the city's requests felt like "a trap”. katu.com/news/investi...

The work I’ve done and will continue to do is in service to the intentional undoing of systemic racism and harmful exclusionary policies. Proud to sign the pledge!

Since when are landlords expected to renovate their properties without jacking up the rent? It’s just “business 101” when the tenants are families in homes but not when the tenant is a billionaire sports owner? 🤔

If we want to increase biking in Portland, we need a bike plan that prioritizes families tootling around their neighborhoods, not just for fit people who traverse the city as a lifestyle choice. I’m just a middle aged mom who wants to get to my local taqueria, ya know?

Brent Toderian

Riding bikes is 10X more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities. And that’s just the climate emissions. Doesn’t include the massive public & personal cost difference, the air & noise pollution difference, the massive space difference, etc, etc…Via @theconversation.bsky.social

I love Portland and have spent almost a decade accomplishing some really hard things to help build belonging for all Portlanders. Learn more about who I am, what I’ve done, and my vision for this amazing city at evenstarforportland.com

Strong take. It’s lazy governing. They’d rather get sound bites then do anything that rocks the boat. Portland can do hard things but it takes courage to make it happen. I think some councilors forget who they actually work for. Let’s help them remember in November.

pnwpolicyangel aka Angelita 👼

The conservative bloc would rather call on him to break ties than do the hard work of governing as the legislative body. They want him to do the Moda deal, they want him to tie break all the time, they don’t want to do oversight, at this point I think they want to be board members, not councilors

He’s definitely playing daddy for some councilors but by charter he has no authority over council. The fact that the moderates want him to come rescue them when they can’t collaborate effectively should give us all the ick.

Willamette Week

Mayor Keith Wilson for the first time broke a tie on the council, earning him the derisive title “daddy of the city” from one councilor.

@pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social demonstrates once again why the progressives on council are the real collaborators and fiscally responsible reps Portland deserves. We need to expand the progressive table to never again allow the mayor to put his thumb on the scale. #breakthedeadlock #voteevenstar4d4

Watching city council this morning and I can’t help but notice the hypocrisy of councilors who consider finding hundreds of millions for an arena a necessary emergency versus approving a straightforward lease for Portland Street Response location.

2498

However you feel about the opportunity we have to get community benefits (I agree!), this clearly shows that it was never intended to be a negotiation on behalf of the public’s best interest from the start. The council must demand accountability from the mayor. These are not his decisions to make.

Rip City Not Rip Off

1/ OK! We analyzed all ~5,300 pages of public records on the Moda Center deal — every email, text, contract, and invoice produced so far. Before Portland commits ~$850M+ ($1.12B after interest), here’s what every Portlander should know. It’s not the story you’ve been told. 🧵

Hey this means a lot. We are almost there! Only need 39 more donations to qualify. If you haven’t already, please pitch in to break the deadlock! 🙏

mitch (he/him)

i should be trying to juice my own donations (i’m pretty close to T2), but i’d really like to see @jameyevenstar.bsky.social and @mullen4pdx.com hit the first tier of SDE matching funds in July to get a real shot at winning a seat. pitch in $10 and give each a donation matched 10:1
